Demand for Education on VMware software
When we started offering authorized VMware training in February of 2009, we did not realize the magnitude of the demand for education on this software. Over the past three years, countless individuals have come to the Arden Center for training on administration on virtualizing environments.
Most all of this training has been on server virtualization. We have seen a slight demand for education on client virtualization in the past six months.
Following is an example about an individual who is learning about virtualizing environments using VMware.
I have been using VM Workstation for the last 6 years. I found it to be one of the best purchases of software I've made. On my workstation, I run test environments. By using features such as snap shots, I quickly switch back to a configuration before a fix or change is made. Being the IBM Certified Instructor for the Domino software environment and Notes / Domino technical professional for over ten (10) years, experience has taught me to be diligent in testing.
I recently took the class VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V5.0] at Arden. This class was excellent. It was taught by Brian Eiler - who is also the co-author of “Administering vSphere 5: Planning, Implementing and Troubleshooting”. Brian has a level of knowledge and experience that exceeded my expectations. No question was too big or too small. I would recommend it to anyone looking to expand their experiences.
Since the class, I have been playing with ESXi in both my VMware Workstation (laptop) and a machine that I built. I was amazed how straightforward everything worked. The biggest obstacle was the network ports on my motherboard were not ESXi compatible. The quick and simple solution was buying an Intel network card. This has allowed me to make test Domino environments in both Linux and Windows and move them between ESXi systems, perform tests, and set them back to the same point before the next test. It even allowed me to monitor performance and resources of individual systems through the VMware Center.
Great learning experience, Great Instructor.
